Well, not quite… but about 3kms down the road…. Took doggies to the beach this evening and thought I would make everyone who is not lucky enough to be living in Cape Town jealous.. ;0) How lucky we are…

So, we’re home – back safe and sound!
We had a lovely time and feel very rested and peaceful. Wonder how long it will take for RW (thanks for the term Wends) to set in…;0)
So for those of you who know Steven, he has been ‘lookin forward’ to this weekend away for a really long time – I kept on making the booking and then would have to cancel for some or other reason. So, since his birthday at the end of Feb, we finally managed to get away this time. In keeping with his nature, this last week has been filled with trips to the outdoor and camping shops so that he can be well kitted out. Among the things he bought, besides the little fridge we borrowed from the folks and all the other camping gear we already have, are: a new gazebo (we already have one, I have no idea why), a washing up stand, new cups, plates, glasses etc just specifically for camping and an air pump thingy for our blow-up mattress. So, we get there and set everything up – all is well and happy and exciting…. Then, the tent finally goes up and it’s time to set up the bed …………….THAT’S RIGHT – STEVEN FORGOT TO PACK THE MATTRESS! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH! By the time we realised this, it was too late for any shops in the bustling town (NOT) of Onrus to be open, so we faced a night of sleeping on the hard floor! I know, I know camping is meant to be that way… but not for me! Here is a pic of the campsite and the guilty party…..
In any event, we were happy to be set up and then went for a walk on the beach – just about 20 metres from our site…. jealous yet? The sun was setting so I got a couple of lovely sunset pics..
We had a lovely little braai in the evening and got slightly tipsy on 2 bottles of wine, not to mention the beers we had while setting up. We went to bed rather early as we were quite sleepy. The night was TERRIBLE. Apart from the extreme discomfort of sleeping without a mattress, Steven decided to get sick! One of those ones where there’s no time to run to the toilets…. I won’t say anymore on that subject but suffice it to say that for the rest of the weekend we were keeping a wide berth around a little patch of earth (nicely covered up by the good man) not far enough away from our tent……
Woke up to an absolutely beautiful day on Saturday. We had a quick breakfast (the good intentions of a run in the morning having been quickly and thankfully forgotten by both) and then headed into Hermanus for the day. Walked around the craft market and bought some lovely crystals from the lady I always go to when I am there. We explored as usual and I found a shop called THE PURPLE SHOP! I was sooooo excited and dragged Steven kicking screaming to get there… However, the name of the shop was unfortunately all that was exciting about it…. It turned out to be quite boring…. We then went for some fish and chips at one of the seaside restaurants.

Back at the campsite, we dragged our newly purchased mattress (now we have 2) outside and dozed under the trees reading and snoozing for the rest of the afternoon. We had another little braai and went to bed early again. What can I say, resting and relaxing really takes it out of you!
We had a really wonderful time – it was really needed and we both feel rejuvenated!
Here are some more pics…
This first one was taken at Hillcrest on Good Friday. Anch, Suzaan and little Rowan….
So – where do I start…. The original title of this post was going to be “Blondie’s Back!” HOWEVER, she’s not! I have been a redhead for a year now and so I decided I am bored of it now and want to be a blondie again…. So, I went this morning to the salon and demanded my blonde back. She giggled and replied “It’s not that simple..!!!” According to her (and I guess I’ll take her word for it being a professional hair stylist and all) blonde does not take so well on red as it goes an orange yellow colour. SO, we decided that we would dye the whole head the same as my natural colour which I was horrified to find is so much darker than it used to be – I remember being 16 with pure blonde, never been touched by a highlight or dye of any sort… But then she says well actually we should go a shade darker than that as the red will come through to much. And hence, the new hair colour – dark brown with blonde streaks…. I actually quite like it….. So, I guess I will have to postpone the Blondie’s Back title for a month from now… Anyhoo, here’s a pic – let me know what you think…..
