Mmmm…. what do you write when you really wanna write something but you don’t know what to write and no writing of any shape or form comes easily and then you think well if I just start writing, something will come out so I will just write and write and yet, as I am writing I still don’t know what to write…..!
Phew…….. Ok, so I guess I will tell you about my week as uneventful and uninteresting as it was. Well, not really that uneventful but just uneventful enough to make this one of those posts you wish you had never started reading coz by the time you get to the end of it you are going to realise it’s full of nothing!
So, Tuesday night we had our monthly girls’ dinner club. Tuesday was Chantelle’s turn and she chose Mama Roma in Blauwberg. It was quite nice – the food and the wine great (yes, I did have too much as usual). It is so nice to have a regular date with your friends and to be able to get away from the men and the work and all the usual crap of the day! We are a group of people who are so comfortable to just be ourselves, say what we want, do what we want, wear what we want and let it all out! And boy, do we! At times it’s silly, at other times it’s serious, most of the time it’s a scream with all the weirdos I call my friends….! Some of the topics that get discussed are bizarre, scary or just plain rude…;0) (Who said that – not me! Yes girls, I hear you – what happens at dinner club stays in dinner club……) So, that was Tuesday and it was great!
On Wednesday I went to the PERSONAL TRAINER! That was really fun…..NOT! The great thing is (well, not great for her), her leg is in plaster as she has broken her leg (or was it ankle… can’t remember now…) so, half the training session is me walking next to Nadia with crutches and hopping to the next area…..!!!! She once again had some fantastic torture planned for me …. clearly having her feet up gives her imagination that much more time to think up new and interesting ways for me to make a fool of myself in front of the general public! (Did I mention that the likes of Corne Krige and half the Stormers train at my gym – good thing they are married, else boy would they be making passes at me with my sexy purple tracky bottoms with holes in them, bright red face and lunging, squatting and gasping for breath all over the place)! Wednesday evening I had a wonderful reiki session with Louise – thanks Louise – I feel almost normal once again….! Then off to the folks for dinner. Unfortunately, that was not a fun time as we had some bad news in the family so it was tears and stressing on behalf of my sister who I can’t even hug as she is in Scotland….!
Then today was a normal work day – we went for a lovely run on the beach with the dogs – I love this time of year as the sun makes everything orange and all the kitesurfers were out – next time I will take a pic – it really is a lovely sight with Table Mountain in the distance….! (sorry Wends, but yes, I am trying to make you jealous….. Read: Come Home)!
So, that is my week thus far! Tomorrow Steven and I are off to Onrus for the weekend so wish good weather on us please. My doggies are staying with their cousin Leo (sis-in-law’s dog) – so they will be having fun too! Will take lots of pics and tell you all about it on Monday!
Hmmm…. For a post entitled ‘Writer’s Block’ this is quite a long one…….. ;0)
Love you all!

Ok Ok! They are gone!

I have no idea how I managaed to get ads on my blog, but I can only imagine it was during one of my late night early morning sessions that I was customising and added them to the blog – they generate ads that relate to the content on your site. It is very weird how I actually managed to do something so sophisticated as really I wouldn’t know where to start! But anyway, the ads are now gone OK! Well, at least for now – I have deleted them but hope it’s not like an automatic thing … let’s wait and see….!

Well just so you all know, last night was night 3 of ‘The Nose Plaster Trial’ and still not much luck! But Wends, I have decided to take your advice (or rather, Steven went to the chemist and informed me that I WILL be taking your advice), and going to do an Olbas steam tonight before bed….
Here’s hoping!

Ok, we have a problem here. Now, this is very embarrassing, but here goes:
Normally, it is the man that snores and the woman that moans about it and ends up sleeping in the next room. But not in this house… Yes, that’s right – I snore! (Cue blushing and squirming…) It is a problem I have developed in the last year and it is getting worse. Last night, Steven almost went to sleep on the couch – something we have made a vow never ever to do in our marriage! But i don’t blame the guy – it must be soooo frustrating to try and sleep when you have Foghorn Ronnie next to you! You see, I have always struggled with my sinuses, but since I started yoga, I can only breathe through my nose, and since my sinuses get totally clogged up at night, this is where the problem comes in. APPARENTLY it is not a normal snore it is more like a nasal snorting type of thing… He even recorded it the other night for me to hear in the morning …. how MORTIFYING! So, on Saturday Stevie decides he has had enough and goes to Clicks to buy earplugs as well as…… NASAL PLASTERS! Oh yes, people – things are getting sexy in the Cobley household! They are these plaster type things that you stick on your nose and it is supposed to pull on the nose so that it widens the nasal passage and VOILA! NO MORE SNORING! Errrrrr, not quite……! After reading the box this morning (two nights with nasal plasters and earplugs), we discover that they take six nights before they start working and the earplugs hurt Stevie’s ears…! So, night time is great fun! I wake up feeling slightly abused from being moaned at, nudged and shoved all night, and Steven wakes up exhausted from lack of sleep! What do we do???? Any suggestions are welcome!
ps the good news is, at least I have been falling asleep the last three nights……;0)

Well people, Easter 2007 is here! This year is going by so fast, it is a bit scary, especially as I have set aside this year to get my body back into good health and in shape…! YIKES! And we all know what happens when that Easter Bunny comes – he doesn’t seem to know about dieting – of course he gets to hop around all the time and has to travel around the world in the space of four days! Of course he is not going to worry about weight loss – he’s superfit!

So, wish me luck for CHOCOLATE WEEKEND! I will have to really try my best to be as disciplined as possible and not have too many choccies – and also try to hit the gym at least once this weekend to try and work it off. Next week I will be taking the very brave step of posting a full-length warts and all pic of me along with a weight-loss and fitness update. I will be doing this monthly so that you can all share in my progress (hopefully) and cheer me on….. I think I will probably have to have a large whiskey before that to give me the courage…! Quite funny actually – while you are watching some of my blogger mates grow, you will be watching me shrink – by the way, for those of you who don’t know this by now – the reason I need to shrink is because ultimately, I want to grow – a baby!

I leave you with a little Easter humour as well as our very own real-life Easter Bunny – The Fumbles’ rabbit, Miles……
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

Reiki vs Golf

Well, it’s been a different sort of a weekend…!
Yesterday saw me becoming an official reiki practitioner, while today saw me sweating it out on a (very hilly) golf course..! Why oh why do I allow myself to be roped into these things? “It will be good exercise, it will be fun!” Take a wild guess whose words those were…..
Well I guess it was kinda fun in the end as Lisa and I managed to hijack a golf cart and drive around like mad people towards the end….! However, the first 12 holes……..NOT FUN! It was really hot with little shade and loads of hills. All I can say is, if I step on that scale tomorrow and I haven’t at least lost 2kgs, heads are going to roll…….! Steven probably had the worst round of golf ever (careful what you wish for Stevie – force your wife to come walk around the course with you and that’s what you get)! At least that takes care of me not having to go again! Oh well, it wasn’t all bad – it was good company, a beautiful day and I must say a really beautiful golf course. So once again, I end off my post with the words ‘All’s well that ends well.’
So off to soak in the tub with my aromatherapy candles, relaxing meditation music and a glass of wine…. Now that sounds more like the Ronnie we all know and love….

Student Life..

Wow! Had a wonderful afternoon with Caz today. I went with her to drop off her assignment at Stellies. We bought lunch from the ‘Neelsie’ and sat outside under a tree eating lunch and chatting. Oh to be a student again….. it was such a lovely atmosphere there students milling around and a beautiful breeze on a beautiful hot day. Remember those days where your biggest concern was: ‘What am I gonna wear today?’ Of course, at the time, we felt our lives were so stressful and full of drama…. It was so nice to take a step back in time although I felt about 100 years old in that Neelsie place. There was a girl in front of us in the queue who still wore braces!!!! I mean, I felt like an ABBA fan at a heavy metal concert! But it was still so much fun and so nice to unwind after a very stressful morning.
The original plan was we would meet at 12.30 and then drive through to Stellenbosch. Well, I eventually pitched up at Caz’s place at 1.30! I just couldn’t get out of the office – phones ringing, husband-stroke-boss moaning, traffic lights going red (I am talking EVERY SINGLE ONE), and of course every single truck in the road deciding it had to show me the back of it…! Many would take this as a sign – ‘Hellooooooooooooooo, you’re not meant to go to Stellenbosch today!’ But no! I scoff in the face of signs!!! So, eventually we are off and boy oh boy, the signs kept coming.
First, I decided to change lanes without checking my blindspot (by the way, did I mention that Caz is PREGNANT?), nearly connecting with a car coming past.
Then, we hear a LOUD BANG! I think one of the tires burst (Caroline, ever the optimist thought maybe it was a balloon……HUH? Don’t ask me – I told you my friends are weird…). Anyway, I pulled over – the tires were fine, still don’t know what the problem was but we are still alive so it was probably just a stone that on my tin car sounded more like a giant boulder. Then, we land behind this old fossil of a man who was driving about 40kph on the N1 and keeps pulling over and nearly coming to a stop and then just pulls back into the road….!!!!
Well, all’s well that ends well as they say – we defied the signs and kept going and yes we had a lovely time….!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I am Insomnia’s Slave..

Well since I am still wide awake at 12.50 I might as well do my 2nd post! My insomnia has become quite a topic of discussion among my friends and family. Everyone is always offering me many reasons as to why I am not sleeping as well as suggestions for how to overcome it…. I have tried most of the remedies and every time I am offered a new reason or suggestion, I think “Aha! That’s it!” But alas, here I am once again, trying to keep myself entertained while the world sleeps…..
As many who know me could tell you, I am what you might call ‘a creative insomniac’ – I refuse to lie in the dark counting sheep or praying that I will fall asleep or – yes, I have done this: cry from frustration. No! Instead I choose to use the time effectively. That means, catching up on work not done, filing, creative hobbies and projects, watching tv, cleaning – one night I even decided that it was high time I saved all our clients’ birthdays into my Outlook calendar! (We have 300 clients……..). So, while all of you are sleeping I have a whole other life going on…..
A theory that I have been offered and am starting to think may be the case, is that I have made it a habit and now I can’t break the pattern. Steven (my husband) says that no one falls asleep the second they hit the pillow and I don’t give myself enough of a chance to fall asleep. I think he is partly right – some nights I subconsciously already know I am not going to sleep so if I can’t sleep within the first 5 or 10 minutes I am up and doing things…. and then because I have not given it a proper go I guess I wake myself up even more…!
I am sure many of you reading this may be thinking, ‘well, being in front of the pc is certainly not going to help…..’ (Hey Caz…) So, with that in mind this is me signing out and saying ‘Wish me Luck…”
Night Night!
