Hi All

Well I am no photographer – but when I saw today’s topic I had to share this with you all.

Over two years ago our beloved German Shepherd, Herbie passed away. In his honour, we planted an apple tree in our back garden – Herbie just loved apples. When you were eating one, he would sit in front of you and drool until you gave him what you had left over – he would demolish it pips, core and all. He just loved them.

The tree struggled for a long time – the soil in our area is not the best for planting. However, I think that because it is a special area set out for him and the fact that we talk to the tree (and of course the rose quartz and moss agate I buried underneath the roots), it has started to flourish.

A few months ago, coinciding with Steven’s brother’s SA visit (Paul was Herbie’s original owner before he emigrated), we got our first apple! It is now a full size Golden Delicious. There is also a little cluster of four apples on the other branch.

So, without further ado – here is my contribution to Photo Friday – our flourishing apple tree!

Call me the Prodigal Blogger

February 18, 2008

I know I know .. I can hear you all moaning and complaining… I’m sorry – it has been very difficult to get some time to myself to catch up with all the blogs and post something of my own. I am currently training up a new girl to take over from me so she is at my computer all the time. I think it may come across as a tad unprofessional if I were to sit there blogging and chatting etc while she sits next to me watching. Well from this week I have left her in the office alone to throw her in the deep end a bit and see how she fares. So I will be using Steven’s laptop and hopefully i will have some more time to myself to catch up with everyone more regularly.

I thought I would use this time to update you on how things are going with the pregnancy, since I have had so many comments and complaints from everyone that I am not keeping everyone up to date. Well, I am now 18 weeks pregnant (ie 4 1/2 months). I am nearly halfway – it is very hard to believe how quickly all of this goes. I have quite a bump on me now (yes I promise that I will take pics soon of the bump and put them up – my friend Pia is going to take them for me so we just need to arrange a time for us to do that). All my first trimester symptoms ie the CONSTANT nausea which “they” – and I can only assume that “they” are men – call morning sickness, are gone. I am feeling very well and healthy and in very good spirits. My only complaint is that I am suffering a lot with heartburn. However, I am one of the lucky few who can drink some water and it goes away – well at least for about 15 minutes or so. I remember my friend Suzaan could not drink water at all as that actually made the heartburn worse! With a result, I think I am even healthier than normal as I am drinking so much water all day long.

My pregnancy has also brought on a very strange and curious phenomenon – eating healthily! Usually I try very hard to stay away from such things as fruit and yoghurt. Well, I find myself eating fruit and yoghurt and salads and veggies over anything else. It is a very odd thing I tell you – this is not me. There is obviously something inside you that knows you are eating for someone else as well and you just automatically make better choices. I do not crave anything that is bad for me – I crave water and fruit! Scary times!!

Other than that there is nothing much to report on the pregnancy side of life. It has all gone very well up to now and I am just so excited to meet my baby girl and see her face for the first time. People have been buying her so many things already – I have already filled two drawers with things for her – she is already so spoilt. Nearly everyday I go through the drawers and look at each little thing and I can hardly believe that it is for MY baby – it has taken so long to get to this point it seems very surreal at times.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week ahead and hopefully I won’t be such a stranger.

xx

And anyone else who may be interested…

Please go to my friend Caroline’s blog – Family Life (link on the right) and read her latest post about Photo Friday. I think it is a really excellent, inspired idea and encourage all who are interested in photography to take part.

It’s not a competition, just something fun and inspirational…. GOOD LUCK!
